People can choose from 148 categories to enter, including flowers, fruit and veg, floral art, preserves, cookery, wine, craft, photography, junior and fun classes. Twelve classes are solely for those aged 16 and under and there are ten classes including the potato – the theme of this year’s show.
Animals, birds and craft demonstrations
Outside the horticultural marquee on the King George V Playing Fields there are plenty of attractions. Owls ‘R’ Us are new to the Summer Show with a static display of 6 different types of owl plus a hawk and a falcon. People will be able to touch the birds and take their photographs with them.
There will also be llamas, alpacas, a farrier shoeing horses, wildlife and butterfly conservation. A circus skills workshop will be available for all ages, while woodturners, spinners and quilters will also be running demonstrations.
Mrs Ethelston’s School Choir will open the show and the Lyme Regis Town Band and HiDDeN will provide music throughout the afternoon. Free train rides, a family dog show, bouncy castle and stalls from local groups, charities and businesses will all add to the occasion. And of course there will be excellent refreshments including cream teas, a bar and ice creams.
The Show runs from 1-5pm. Entry is £2.50 for adults and free for accompanied under-16s.
The Show programme and schedule is available free from Uplyme Post Office, Raymonds Hill Post Office and Ginger Beer in Lyme Regis.
