What’s on next, and can you help?

Show report

The Summer Show page has been updated with some details of our very successful 2019 Show.

Can you help?

Would you be interested in taking over as Society Treasurer? John Routley, our current Treasurer, will be very happy to help the new person to learn the ropes, and he or she could perhaps bring more technology to bear on the job! John can give you an idea of the work involved – please call 01297 445257 or talk to him at one of our events.

Also, members please keep your eye out for a posted form asking about the future of the Summer Show – please take the time to fill it in and drop off to a Committee member or post back using the enclosed label. Non-members can download the form here: Member Questionnaire – August 2019 (PDF file). The more answers the better, so don’t be shy!

On next

The next regular monthly event is on August 28th (Wednesday) at 7.30pm at Uplyme Village Hall – Talk ‘Plants of the Dolomites’ by Paul Cumbleton

A travelogue about a visit to the Dolomite Mountains in Italy made in 2016 and showing a selection of the plants and scenery encountered. Wherever possible Paul tries to link the plants shown in the wild with details about their cultivation in the garden so people can see how “growable” or not the plants are.

Our next outing is a Coach Trip on September 11th (Wednesday) leaving the village hall at 7.45am to The Lost Gardens of Heligan

200 acres of Victorian gardens and pleasure grounds rediscovered thirty years ago. The Lost Gardens include aged and colossal rhododendrons and camellias, a series of lakes, flower and vegetable gardens, an Italian garden, and a wild area called “The Jungle”.
Cost £25 to include a guided tour. Please ring Annie Kobus 01297 443346 to book – there are still a few places left, so don’t delay!
