October news and events

Firstly, technical problems mean that I was unable to send out the regular newsletter in time, for which my apologies. Here are our next 3 offerings:

Our next talk:

September 25th (Wednesday) 7.30pm Uplyme Village Hall Talk ‘The Living Jigsaw Explained’ – the nitty gritty of eco-friendly gardening by Val Bourne

Val Bourne is a celebrated garden writer, photographer and lecturer. She has won multiple awards including Journalist of the Year from the Garden Media Guild. Val is a regular contributor to The Daily Telegraph, among others, and she gardens on the wind-swept Cotswolds at Spring Cottage – high above Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire. Val is a hands on gardener and a committed plantaholic and she manages her third of an acre garden without using any chemicals at all – something she has always believed in. Her newest book, ‘The Living Jigsaw’ published by Kew, explains how it all works. Val is an Ambassador for the Hardy Plant Society.

Our next show:

October 23rd (Wednesday) 7.30pm Uplyme Village Hall Autumn Show and Harvest Supper

There are 16 classes of entry, covering flowers, floral art, fruit, vegetables, cookery, preserves and a fun category.  The Autumn Show is a light-hearted affair with judging in most classes by popular vote and not by Royal Horticultural Society rules.

There will also be a bring and share supper for everyone to enjoy; please bring a plate of finger food for the shared buffet table.

Guests are welcome to enter and full details of the classes and judging can be found by downloading the 2019 Autumn Show Schedule here (PDF file). Exhibits should be brought to the hall at 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm.
